Peer to Peer Training in France

19 mid-school and high schools’ teachers from 3 different schools in Landes district in the south west of France, took part on the 20th of December 2019 and the 8th of January 2020 to 2-full days of peer-to-peer training in the frame of DROP IN project.

The concept was simple: teachers already trained on non-formal education techniques trained their colleagues and shared their experience in using these methods in the classroom.

How the World café method can help teaching History? What if we used the Learning together to teach Maths, French or Chemistry? Can the Carrousel of Professions help the pupils work on their professional orientation?

This is what we did, what they learned. Each technique and method was deeply analysed and considered with multiple use in the classroom, either for teaching or for bringing up a good atmosphere between the pupils….

Motivated by the methods, the teachers were given time to reflect on the methods and think how they will re-use and test in their classroom. At the end of the course, they established action plans in order to use some of the methods that they already tried in their classrooms.

In addition to that, Pistes Solidaires organized a half-day of open house session in a one of the schools on the 24th of January 2020 in order to present DROP IN project and few methods to all the teachers that weren’t able to attend the course but still interested in the project. It was a real success in a sense that 16 more teachers were present and motivated to learn about Non-Formal Education methods to integrate them in their curriculum.

Motivation, innovation and experimentation are the main keywords for the coming period of the project on the French local level!

Stay tuned to know more about the coming class experimentation results …
