Results, hints and inspirations from the experimentation

Click on the following boxes, each one will show you the results of project experimentation in each country (and useful suggestions for your implementation).

Bulgaria
Age:

14-16 years old

Subject:

English

Local adaptation:

The teacher – to make the activity more interactive – adapted it in a different way: a Google Docs chart was created, thus allowing the students to fill in on their devices. This made the activity really useful and easy to implement. Moreover, sometimes the teacher didn’t use the second column of the chart provided, because there were no hints she could give about some lessons.

How did the teachers implement the activity?

The teacher implemented the activity following the main guidelines of the manual. Its implementation was pretty successful. Specifically, one of her statement was the following:

“I felt really positive and good when using this activity, because I could see the interest and the effort of my students when working.  I am happy that I had the chance to use it.”

How did students react to the activity?

Students learnt how to find the most important information from a lesson, they had a better way of studying the essential parts of the material. For sure, it helped them to understand better the content of the subject.

Other comments:

The teacher suggests choosing this method if you need a helpful way to synthesize important information after each lesson or unit. It has been beneficial to her subject (English), because it helped students find the most important vocabulary and grammar parts of the lessons.

France
Age:

11 years old

Subject:

Science

Local adaptation:

The teacher has prepared a template of a board to be projected on the video projector to support the activity of the project with the whole class. Moreover, she added a further step: after preparing the sheet and trying to memorize the words alone, the students paired up to ask each other questions. This allowed everyone to understand the principle more quickly, and they explained the vocabulary to each other.

How did the teachers implement the activity?

The teacher followed the guidelines of the manual, adding the further step explained above.

How did students react to the activity?

Students were satisfied by the activity and managed to reach the expected learning outcome as foreseen by the teacher.

Other comments:

According to the teacher implementing the activity, the memory game is highly suggested if you want to focus more on the capability of the students to focus on specific topics and activate the process of memorization. The activity could take more time at the beginning in order to be implemented, but then it becomes faster the second time once the students have acquired the main instructions.
