What is DROP'IN?

DROP'IN is a project funded by Erasmus+ Key Action 2, Cooperation for innovation and exchange of good practices, Strategic partnerships - SCHOOL sector.

What are its goals?

 

The DROP'IN project aims to prevent early school leaving by addressing from the relationship between teachers and pupils and introducing non-formal education methods within the school context with the aim of motivating students and making them protagonists of their learning process. The project makes teachers the main participants in an exchange of experiences and skills that allows finding new solutions and strategies to address the phenomenon of early school leaving and combat it.

 

Who will be involved?

  • 12 teachers per country of first and second level secondary schools.
  • More than 3,200 students between 12 and 18 years old in the 5 countries involved.
     

Activities and expected results

DROP INSIGHT

Quantitative and qualitative research on early school leaving at European, national and local level. DROP INSIGHT will provide an overview of the phenomenon of early school leaving in each partner country, analysing public policies and innovative strategies to counteract the phenomenon and valuing the point of view of teachers and the needs of educational communities.

EDUC'ACTION: THE EDUCATION IN ACTION!

A catalogue of at least 30 non-formal education techniques that will be used by teachers and tested. At the end of this phase, the catalogue will also contain practical examples of the implementation of activities for teachers.

DROP'INVOLVE: Teachers' training

A training programme based on non-formal education for teachers who want to discover and develop non-formal techniques to introduce into their classrooms.

 

DROP'IN ACTION: EXPERIMENTATION & VALORISATION

An online and multilingual portfolio with the aim of transmitting and describing the experimentation of non-formal techniques and above all making visible the results and impact of the methods tested.

 

POLICY PAPER: DROP' INSPIRATION

A policy document containing recommendations addressed to policy makers. 

What has been done?

Kick Off Meeting

The first partnership meeting took place on 15 and 16 November 2018 in Pau, France, hosted by the coordinator of the project Pistes-Solidaires. The meeting allowed all the partners to introduce themselves and get to know each other as well as to discuss the implementation of the first activities of the project.

 

Research concluded!

"DROP'INSIGHT" collect information on early school leaving in partner countries and on national approaches to combat it. The results of this activity are very important, as they will help to respond to the needs of teachers and other education professionals for an innovative approach to combating early school leaving.

 

IO2 "EDUCATION: THE EDUCATION IN ACTION!"  

Each partner has contributed to the identification of at least six non-formal education techniques that can be transferred to the formal education sector. The result is a catalogue of 30 techniques to be used in class with students.

On 20 and 21 May 2019 the second Transnational Meeting was held in Sofia.

From 7 to 12 October the teachers of the schools involved in the project participated in the C1 Learning Mobility: "SP-SCHOOL-EVENT" in DAX, France.

A 5-day training follow-on the work of the IO2, with the aim of introducing techniques of non-formal education at school.

What is expected in the coming months?

Between October 2019 and end of January 2020 - Peer Training for Teachers -1 training for a minimum of 2 days in each partner country conducted by the teachers participating in the C1 Learning Mobility in cooperation with the non-formal education expert. The aim of these trainings will be the transfer of knowledge, the sharing of competences and tools with colleagues. 

 

At the end of January the third project meeting will be planned in Gulbene, Latvia.

 

Between February and July 2020 the IO4 DROP'IN Action: Experimentation & Valorisation will start: 7-8 months of experimentation and testing, the teachers will have to experiment 5 techniques with the students in cooperation with the non-formal education expert. In addition, there will be three meetings between teachers at local level to share and exchange practices and two meetings at local level to work on the development of skills.
