Bulgaria
Age:
14-17 years old
Subject:
Russian
Local adaptation:
The activity was carried out online, so it was mainly implemented using music.
How did the teachers implement the activity?
The teacher adopted this activity because she wanted to teach students tolerance and respect for the feelings and emotions of others. Before starting the activity, the teacher introduced the topic, discussed about emotions and how they are expressed by them. This introduction talk can be used to relax the climate and to allow students to be “in the mood” for the activity. The rest of the activities followed the steps as suggested by the manual. According to the teacher, the choice towards this type of activity has allowed to provide more emphasis on the expression of emotions in different situations, something for which sometimes there is no space in formal education.
How did students react to the activity?
Students evaluated positively their involvement in this activity, since it allowed them to have a space of expression where not only, they could discuss about their emotions, but also to get to know the emotions of their peers.
Other comments:
If the teacher wants to implement this activity in a subject connected to a foreign language, it works better if the level is high, since in this way students can have a wider vocabulary to be used during the activity.
The teacher suggests implementing it mainly face-to-face, since by implementing it online there are some restraints: in fact, you could not observe the reactions while listening to the music during the activity. At the same time, the online implementation allows even the less communicative students to share how they feel.
Finally, a specific care should be taken with students with special educational needs who perceive the expression of emotions in their way.
